While there has been
monumental growth in Gig Harbor, it has the look and feel of
a small fishing village.
Gig Harbor residents enjoy a superb view of the Puget Sound
region.
The tranquil waters
of the small harbor, with Mount Rainier's prominent figure in
the background, has inspired thousands of postcards over the
years. The residents in and around Gig Harbor are winning the
war against urban sprawl. It is a town that has lots of open
space, impressive fir trees and no high rises to obstruct the
view. The area is developing, but is still manageable.
It is a place where people still smile and look each other in
the eye and say hello to strangers they meet on the street.
Residents truly have the best of both worlds. While they are
still in the quiet settings of the harbor they are just a short
ride away from Tacoma and Seattle and all that those magnificent
cities have to offer. Seattle Aquarium, Woodland Park Zoo and
Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium, Northwest Trek, State Parks,
Theaters, Museums and Historical Societies to name a few.
